2019年11月29日，客二二十四队122路首次与客二十三队668路实现车辆联运，首次参与联运的车辆自编为35305，联运路线如下：由通州区京东运乔建材城场站开出，照常走行668路到达北京站东后，开进客二二十四队北京站东公交场站，在场站内进行车辆充电、刷费率卡、更改电显、报站，充电完毕后这辆车亮着122路的电显开出，加入122路运营一圈，中午回到场站充电后下午又再次走行一圈122路，回到场站后继续充电、改电显，改报站，于晚高峰时顺高峰走行668路回到京东运乔建材城。乘客不能接续乘坐。
 
在122-668路试点成功之后，这种“联合调度”在别的线路也不断开始试点。
 
截止2022年12月31日，122-668联运车辆在工作日每天共有5辆，每辆每天合计跑一圈668，四圈122路，将逆高峰的班次转移到了市区避免运力浪费。
 
2023年1月1日，122路划转至电车客运分公司后因与668路分属两个分公司，联运暂时停运
 
2023年3月6日，122路与668路恢复联运。恢复首日自编为35305的668路车辆早晨由京东运乔建材城始发，至终点北京站东后充电并切为122路，于8点左右发122路全程至北京西站南广场后返回，并在11:45、13:00分别又发了两圈122路全程后于下午四点多发668路返回。乘客依旧不能接续乘坐。

== 历史 ==
1996年6月18日，开通122路，由北京站东经广渠门桥、左安门外、方庄、天坛南门、菜户营、达官营至北京西站，路长20.8公里。
 
1999年，因大方饭店施工占用北京西站电车总站，122路西端迁至南蜂窝路场站发车。
 
2002年6月13日，为配合马家堡立交桥施工，北京南站西行停车的122路，东移过陶然桥同游泳池并站。
 
2006年8月19日，北京站东街地区交通整治，122路北京站东至长安街区段走向局部调整，由北京站东发车后改经大羊毛胡同向北至长安街，撤销站前街站。


2006年10月15日，建国门桥西南道施工改造，122路北京站东至东便门桥区段走向局部调整，由北京站东发车后经站前街、建内大街、大羊毛胡同、北京站东街绕至东二环。


北京地铁9号线
2009年1月6日，122路和[[北京公交53路|53路]]临时取消北京西站南广场北行站。


2009年1月25日，为配合北京西站南广场Ⅱ段结构加固工程，途经此处的公交线路临时调整：53路、122路终点由北京西站东调至北京西站南广场枢纽站内，线路按原线由两广路至北京西站南路向北进入枢纽站。


市郊铁路副中心线
2010年10月26日，公交集团第七客运分公司裁撤，122路划转至第五客运分公司管辖。


2011年10月28日，为配合北京西站南广场广莲路道路施工，公交122路采取绕行措施，线路从北京西站南广场枢纽站发车后，改走南广场东街、马莲道北路至两广路恢复原线，单向撤销莲花池站，原在南广场西侧的上车站改在北京西站南广场枢纽站内，去往北京西站南广场方向不变。

2012年1月15日，公交集团调整北京西站南广场公交枢纽站内各通道的线路，枢纽站内各通道由西向东依次为1-6通道，由枢纽站南侧进入的122路，下车站设在西站南路现状下车站，并进驻第6通道。

: 2019年11月29日早晨，一辆自编为35305的广通纯电动客车从第二客运分公司十三车队通州区京东运乔建材城场站开出，照常走行668路到达北京站东后，并没有照常在路边等候返回通州，而是开进了客二二十四队北京站东公交场站，在场站内进行车辆充电、刷费率卡、更改电显、报站。这标志着北京公交集团新的联运模式试点的开始。

上午充电完毕后这辆车亮着122路的电显开出，加入122路运营一圈，中午回到场站充电后下午又再次走行一圈122路，回到场站后继续充电、改电显，改报站，于晚高峰时顺高峰走行668路回到京东运乔建材城。这便是去年年底集团全新的被称为“[[联运|联调联运]]”的运营思路。在122-668路试点成功之后，这种“联合调度”在别的线路也不断开始试点。<br />
加车、套跑、试跑车型：BK6141、BK6111CNG(00)、BK6111D3、BK6141D2等。
: 122-668联运车辆在工作日每天共有5辆，曾用车辆自编为35300-35307，每辆每天合计跑一圈668，四圈122路，将逆高峰的班次转移到了市区避免运力浪费。
